My Experience at The Yoga Loft Academy

A few months ago, I didn’t really know what to do with my life. I was at a turning point, feeling stuck and searching for something deeper — a way to reconnect with myself, to grow personally, and to open the door to my dream of becoming a wellness coach focused on yoga and nutrition.

That’s why I chose to join The Yoga Loft Academy, a yoga teacher training program in Brussels. And it turned out to be so much more than I ever imagined.

A Personal Quest 🌱

I wanted to see if I was capable of teaching yoga and embracing all its layers, not just the physical ones.

I didn’t have a specific fear. I was ready for change and wanted to challenge my social anxiety and low self-confidence. My goal was to see if teaching yoga could become part of my purpose.

What I Discovered

From the start, the small group setting made it easier to build real connections and feel supported. There was an incredible sense of community, even when small tensions arose — always handled with respect.

The teaching approach was another revelation. It wasn’t about Instagram-friendly yoga or rigid rules. Instead, it went deeper, beyond the surface. They also made the business side of yoga more practical and real.

One thing that stood out: there’s no single “right” way to practice. Everyone’s experience is valid and unique.

I also discovered something unexpected: my love for meditation 🧘‍♀️. I used to think I only liked intense practices. But the 25-minute meditation at our last class flew by and showed me how powerful stillness can be — even in moments of anxiety.

The Moments That Stuck 🤍

Some of the best memories were simple: sharing snacks, supporting each other during the practical exam, and laughing together through the ups and downs.

The diversity of personalities and nationalities in our group created a dynamic, joyful environment. Even when stress showed up, we found ways to keep moving forward together.

How It Changed Me

This training transformed me in ways I didn’t expect.

Personally, I’m more aware of my insecurities, but also how to work with them instead of letting them hold me back. I take criticism less personally and see feedback as a chance to grow.

Physically, my PCOS symptoms were tough to manage during this period, especially with the stress of my marketing and real estate internship and my Start Lab project, CURE by Elena. But I learned to listen to my body, adapt, and keep showing up.

Emotionally, I’m more resilient, more present, and less likely to give up when things get hard.

Why I Recommend It 🌟

I believe what you learn at The Yoga Loft Academy is both relevant and deeply valuable: from anatomy and postures to philosophy and teaching techniques.

One of the biggest strengths is the small group environment. It creates a space where everyone’s voice matters. Their flexible approach — honoring that everyone’s experience is different — helped me feel seen and encouraged.

Of course, nothing is ever perfect. But for anyone ready to dive deeper, this is one of the best yoga teacher training programs in Brussels.

Who This Is For

This training is for anyone who loves yoga and wants to explore it more deeply — whether you dream of teaching or simply want to understand yourself and your practice better.

It’s for those ready to learn, grow, and be part of a supportive community.

What’s Next for Me 💫

Now that I’m a certified yoga teacher, I’m excited to share what I’ve learned. I plan to start teaching classes for friends and anyone who’s interested, and to build my project: becoming a wellness coach who integrates yoga, nutrition, and mindful living.

Thank You

Before closing this chapter, I want to thank everyone who shared this journey with me.

To my fellow trainees — Louise, Marie, Melba, Tatiana, Nataliya, Paula, Amy, Leo — your laughter, your strength, and your unique stories made this experience so much richer.

To Nele, from the previous cohort, thank you for your kindness and for sharing your insights.

And to all the amazing teachers at The Yoga Loft — thank you for creating such a welcoming space to learn and grow.

A special thank you to Gary Bridgeman and Simon Dwyer, the main teachers of our yoga teacher training program. Your dedication and passion have inspired me in countless ways.

To all of you — thank you for your patience, your encouragement, and your presence. I’ll carry these lessons with me as I step into my new chapter as a yoga teacher.

A Note to Myself 🌿

If I could say something to the Elena who hesitated to sign up: go for it. Even when things feel uncertain, this adventure is worth every step.

I’m leaving this training not just as a yoga teacher, but as someone who’s learned to trust herself, embrace challenges, and keep growing.
